A test drive would be ideal. Outboards always seem to run great in the driveway. It's in the water with some backpressure on the exhaust where idling and stalling issues can crop up. Looks like a pretty nice boat in decent shape for the year. Your location is needed for better pricing estimate. Boat prices vary WILDLY across the country. In my area I'd ballpark it at $3k-$5k.

Thanks for reply. Im in Ohio he wants $3,500 I hear you on the test drive i so scared of plopping down the cash and then the motor not pushing the boat when in water. He dosent seem to want to put it in water. The battery is dead and the tags on trailer and boat are expired.I thought the price was fair if it does what it should in the water. I just not willing to take the chance thanks alot. I have a good running boat now so in no hurry. Just looking for a bigger boat with more deck space.

That's a bummer. It's a nice deal if running well. Perhaps if you can convince him you aren't some tire kicker that you will absolutely put the cash in his hand after a successful run he'll think differently. Although at this time of the year and at that price, he may find the less careful buyer he's looking for.
