Hi all,
My wife and I bought a 1987 Gastron in September, never got it in the water last year. We have just completed getting it tagged and registered and ready to go. On Sunday we started it up using the water connection to start it while out of the water.
We got her running and she ran and idled well, throttled her up and she ran great. My wife asked if she could try reverse and I saw no reason not to try it. (Again we bought the boat then stored it so better to check it all right?) Well from neutral she went into reverse and it sounded like there were there rocks in the prop. It growled and chunked and barely got going - the prop I mean. I of course asked her to take back OUT of reverse.
When we bought it the guy we bought it from ran it for us (never put it in reverse) what have I run into here? I am wondering if I need a new prop and hub. Prop looks to be in less than stellar shape BTW. Am I on the right track or is it a linkage thing? Or worse?
Thanks in advance
