I have a 1987 yamaha 115ETLH outboard. It has trouble idling and will shut off every now and then. When we are in a long no wake zone and running just in gear it will also shut off at times. I am not sure if the idle is just set to low, it is around 600-700 I believe. Every now and then I have trouble getting the primer bulb to fill with gas so im not sure if I have an air leak somewhere. The other issue is that we were wakeboarding off my 20' center console last weekend and when we would hit the throttle every now and then it would just putter right out. It seemed like it was just choked out. We tried to not hit the throttle so fast but it would still bogg down and not get up and go.
I change out the fuel water separator every year and have changed the plugs which now have less that 15 hours on them. I am looking to rebuild the carbs this winter to see if that might help. Is there anything else worth looking at or doing while rebuilding the carbs and cleaning out the whole fuel system? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
