1987 Yamaha 175

Does the 87 Yamaha require "premium fuel" ? I am running 87 octane and once the rpms reach about 4-4500 I develop a skip. Knock sensor? Does the 87 have one?

Have good compression all 6 cylinders, new plugs.

I'm pretty sure 87octane is fine. No knock sensor. Is your gas nice and fresh. Go thru your fuel system. Service your carbs.
