Hey guys, I have a 1988 100 hp mercury that replaced my 1989 mercury 115 due to a bad cylinder. Do you know if I'm able to take the 115 carbs and put them on the 100 with out having to change anything else?
Thanks

Hey sorry to be off topic, but would you mind taking a few pics of your motor with the cowling off from the sides for me? I?ve had some issues with my motor and getting everything hooked up right, but either no one knows, or no one wants to help... I appreciate it.

To get an extra 15 hp, it probably involved more that a carb change. Porting is mostly likely different. Pick up timing may be different.

That's kinda what I was thinking but so far everything I've found says just carbs. I'm gonna have to do some searching on parts diagrams to see which parts were the same

you could also cross reference the parts catalog to see if there's anything else different as well. I've done Evenrude upgrades from 20Hp to 35hp conversion, and it required bigger fuel lines, hotter plugs, the 35hp carb, and a bored out intake manifold.. and of course some fine tuning afterwords.

Honestly its probably just as simple as that... most outboard manufactures do that, they make VERY slight changes, then one component, then market it as an entirely different motor for more $$... Evenrude / Johnson was known for that a lot!
