Hello all!
I hope someone has some hints for me, I have a Merc 115 (1988) I-6 O.B. on my Hobie Power 18 boat with frozen steering. It sat for 3 years unused (but covered) and since she's been "re-comissioned," I can't seem to get the steering unstuck. I have a Teleflex Morse steering set up, but I don't know how it works. I have a single red hose/cable that goes from steering wheel to what looks like a hydraulic ram that attaches to the OB at the stern. Is there hydraulic fluid that I have to replace? Or is it a cable encased in the red hose/cable? Is there a way to lubricate the ram to see if the "stuck-age" is there or would it be in the metal box attached to wheel under the dashboard? It also has what looks like clear plastic tube that holds a spring, which is about 12" long. I want to thank all for any tips you can give. Greg (aka "Eskimo_Boater")
