Hi After a full season of problems I think it finally comes down to the stator. After installing a new rebuild powerhead I have had the problem with WOT being only 4900 rpms with the same prop set up I had before new powerhead. I used to get 5400. I tryed all the normal things from replacing powerpacks to new coils, Lync and sync rebuild carbs. I did go thru one rectifier this year also.
Now today after start up and poor rmps for the first 20 minutes (4000 Max) the motor kicked up a few hundered rpms and ran better. Fished all day and at the end of the day 6 hrs of start and stopping motor ran rough battery voltage was 11.9 and would not raise at any rpms, funny thing here was when the motor was shut off the battery voltage goes up to 12.6 I am thinking stator is bad and frying rectifier and maybe powerpacks as well? I have another one to replace it with will try that this week.

I'll try to help, and I have a idea to add later.

If you have a bad rectifier, you probably WON'T have a tach reading.

Checking the ignition requires 7 / 16 spark on a tester.Have you done this ?

11.9 volts should be fine.

Has the lower unit been apart recently ?

DHP

Haven't done a gap check, yes the lower unit has been off more than once this season. Tach reads good at all ranges,Rectifier was new 12 hrs ago was showing charge at higher rpms just like it should. Then after the motor started running ruff it went to 11.9 volts till i turn off the motor?
steve
