I recently bought a used gamefisher online. I took it out after i cleaned out the carb and it ran great until it overheated. Brought it home and ordered a water impeller and it started spitting water and not overheating but when i got it out on the water, it wouldnt plane out and seemed like it was not getting the the power it had before. any ideas what could be the problem?

Head gasket may have blown (if your lucky) Cheap easy fix.
Do a compression check.

Did you try this?

You could have dead cylinder, try this.
- Pull a plug wire and start the engine, does it start, does it run the same, less RPM?
- Reconnect that plug wire, disconnect the other and start the engine, does it start, run the same, less RPM.

You are hoping that it will run of each cylinder when 1 of the plug wires is pulled, if not you have a dead cylinder, probably the ignition system. I found out (the hard way) that these outboards will run off 1 cylinder and seem to run OK in the test tank, but not on the water.
