For the guys that have rebuilt the floor on a Bayliner. Is there a water drain hole at the back of the boat in front of battery comparment. I can feel a small round hole under the carpet.

Might be where they injected the foam.....

Hey. It's a little soft in that spot, about 6 in diameter. Perfect circle. Can't understand why Bayliner would have a full floor with no good drainage. The floor is built up with flange all around the back (stern). Top that off the front windshield leaks water through both corners.
I guess I'll gently peel back the carpet and see what is goin on. The rest of the floor is solid except for that one spot.

Seems like if it was a drain hole there would be one on both sides....may be a hole a previous owner put thinking they were draining water out to a good place.

Looks like original carpet there but I noticed the trailer spring is weak on that side so the water would sit in that area and try to find a way to drain. I guess after all these years it did. Seems a shame to cut up the carpet just for that. Nice looking boats but bad engineering.
After reading all these post on this site I have a to do list as long as my arm. I just got the Bayliner last July so I'm going to get my moneys worth and enjoy and keep doing my circle checks.
Thanks Guys

Maybe because the foam is full of water making the boat heavy on that side....

Is there a drain hole for that compartment or is it a complete seal? Or should drill a drain hole in the ski compartment

Did you lift the carpet and look under there? Don't think it's a drain.....

I think I might have to. Just wondering if the water sits in there or does it drain out at the back?

Do you see a drain tube into the bilge from that area? If not and I really don't think there is one....the water is going into the foam....

No, I could not feel one with my hand. Was hoping someone with the same boat that did a tear down would have some idea.

Re: 1988 1700 Bayliner floor question

I did a lot of reading last night on all the posts of floor rebuilding on the Bayliner. I am under the assumption that the stringer and joists are the backbone of the hulls integrity and have to be firmly secured to the hull.
So what I am going the do is lift up the carpet (maybe replace) cut out around that bulkhead, pull out the foam, inspect for rot and replace. For me to replace the whole floor would be a big job being the rest is solid and like new. I was told the boat was mostly stored indoors. The water I know of gets in from the windshield corners.

Hey Riptorn yes there are holes in floor where Bayliner has shot in foam. I have one in front of my rear seat boxes and infront of forward facing seats. Was able to poke into them and check foam. I filled in with PB then re did whole deck with 2 oz. CSM. Getting ready to finish with gel coat then re-carpet.

Thanks palace. I was wondering why a perfect circle. Did you have a water breach? If so how bad was the foam water logged?
I don't think there is drain holes in the bulkheads for safety reason in case the hull gets breached in the water.

No water breach dry as the desert out here. My guess on perfect cirlcle is that it is the size of the foam nozzle they use to shoot foam in. Just finishing deck restore on my 87 19ft. capri.

The one here is about 6 in. plus. Check out the pictures above in earlier posts.
Question, what year is your boat? Because the posts I was reading for prior 1988 is that they were using foam blocks with spray foam on top
Hey palace you have any pictures of your boat? Would like to see.
