1988 200hp Susuki

Do 2 cycle motors charge the battery like a car's alternator does? If so, how? My battery starts the motor but does not appear to get recharged while operating. My battery tester shows no charging but do not know if this is normal. I have to trickle charge battery between fishing trips to ensure it has juice.

They do have charging systems. Your Suzuki, I believe, has a 16amp system. The charging system works via charge coils under the flywheel. You may want to get a hold of a manual and read up on the charging system. I believe there are two inline fuses inside the black electrical box (the one with the CDI unit in it) you may want to check.
