1988 225 evinrude sometimes will nto start

got a 1988 225 evinrude sometimes will not start .has no fire when problem occurs is very random. will crank engine for sometime 15 to 20 mins. and then all of a sudden will star and run fine and may not act up again for several trips. anyone else had this type of issue

Might be a short in your kill switch.
Maybe your powerpack is going.
Next time it happens, disconnected kill wire in engine and try again

will try that. its just so damn random when it does it it may be 2 or three weeks at a time never know when it will happen

Yeah I know what you mean. Being there myself before, no one on the boat knowing how nervous i was just before start up and how happy i was when it would properly roar into life.
I figured there was no need to tell them about this while sitting there fishing with engine off.

Mine hasnt happened for ages but i keep a small jumper wire on the boat so i can just unplug the red control plug harness and jump the solenoid from big positive to small positive if needs be when out there
