Can anyone help me identify this part? I pulled my carbs and VRO for cleaning. While I was in the engine I pulled my High Jet Lines(?)(the very thin ones) off to run a thin wire down them for any obstructions. I accidentally broke the tiny plastic nozzle(not on the carb side...on the other side) The line goes from the carbs to a small black cylinder about 1 1/2 in. in diameter and 3 in. long that has a red plastic turn tab on it. When this tab is turned one way it seems to release the pressure in the fuel system?? I need to replace this cylinder because I can no longer attach my high jet line to it. Anybody know what I'm talking about and perhaps what this part is called? Any help would be great as my engine is ready to go except for this one small part! -THANKS!

That's your primer solenoid. It's the new-fangled electro version of a choke.

The part is the primer solenoid. It allows pressurized fuel to bypass the carburetor and feed directly to the intake when you press in the key on the ignition switch. The top portion of the primer solenoid can be replaced with a kit available from your BRP dealer.

one more question while im thinking of it...What position should the red plastic turn tab be in...1) parallel with solanoid 2) perpendicular to solanoid 3) ...or at a 45 degree angle to solanoid?
Each position seems to have a different effect.

That lever has only two positions. In-line with the solenoid body blocks the flow of fuel to the carbs except when you push in the key (choke) during cold starts. If you've pumped the primer bulb, fuel is fed directly into the intake for quicker cold starts. Those are also not high jets. They are simply fuel nipples. Should you run the battery down and be unable to start the engine electrically, you can rope start the engine. But if the battery is dead pushing on the key will have no effect and you in effect have no choke. So in that case, you turn the red lever perpendicular which opens the fuel flow through the solenoid. You squeeze the primer bulb a couple of times and presto, you've primed the motor. Now turn the lever back parallel and pull the rope. If you leave the lever in the perpendicular position you allow a bunch of extra fuel into the engine and may flood it so make sure you set it parallel again.
