1988 48hp evinrude { lower cyclinder}

My son has a 1988 48hp evinrude, the bottom cylinder doesn't fire, I sujested that he switch ingnition coils to see if one is bad, but he had the same results, no fire on the bottom. Is there any way to test the power pack? or could there maybe be a problem with the stator? Thanks for any/all replys.<br /><br /> Brad

You have to go through the entire system, you need a peak reading volt meter for these tests.
