Hi all, I finally decided to start up my 1988 85ph Force today. Primed the bulb and noticed gas dripping out of the quick disconnect. My question is did this quick disconnect come like this or is it after market? Looks like another pain in the butt. I assume it's for an O/B trolling motor.

I checked the engine gas filter and it had scum and sand in it. I can just imagine what got through that flimsy screen to the carbs and engine.
I am going to install an on line gas filter before I use it this summer. Has anybody else noticed this about Force?

They worked when new.
They were installed in case you wanted to change tanks.
Then they went to built in tanks and continued installing them?????
My boat came with them in 1988. I removed them as soon as I got the boat.
Wally world has a filter G-2 or G12 depending on hose size.
Install it between the pump and the carb. That way it's under the cowl and out of the way.

Thanks for the info jerryjerry05. I put a new o-ring in and seems alright. Have a small tank at the Cottage with the same end.

Would it make much difference if I put the gas filter down in the bilge area at the on board tank or would that be over working the fuel pump? How many times can you clean the motor gas filter before it starts to leak around the rubber seal?

I think it's easier to push through the filter than trying to draw through it.????
Between the pump and filter,it catches any delaminating/debris from ethanol.
The water/fuel sep filter if it has ANY water in it,it will rust and then it goes to the pump and then in the carb.
The filter should be changed yearly.
I noticed yesterday my filter (only a year old) sprung a leak.Tiny pin hole in the filter. So off to Wally World.I usually
try to paint over the filter and didn't on this one.
I fish in salt water and it EATS everything!!!!

Ya, I think I'll do it with the filter after the fuel pump. Makes sense jerryjerry05. I will also take out the quick release from the motor because a of no need for it. Small cherry can does the same job.
Thanks again jerryjerry05
