Still working on my shift problem, but last night took it out to try it and she wouldn't start. Got it home and no spark. Had one other time where it wouldn't start out on the water, but when I got home it started right up. This time, no spark on any of the 3 cylinders. Checked ground and wiring, don't see any problems. Isolated the stop circuit and still no spark. Today I tried the stator. Doesn't move my digital multimeter at all (no DVA). I've checked resistence on both sets of wires from the stator to the CD modules, and they show nothing. Guessing a fried $$$ stator. Should the multimeter read any voltage at all even if it isn't a DVA?

Re: 1988 85HP Force No spark

Got the flywheel off today, and found that the magnet had detached from the flywheel and was stuck to the stator. It is a one piece wraparound deal. Any ideas on what to use to reattach the magnet? Stator, also, appears burnt and cracked at a couple of spots. Particularly one of the wires to the rectifier. Anyone have an idea how to check if the rectifier is fried? Going to test the stator, again, but I think it is fried.

Lots of ignition parts on ebay for sale. Even flywheels for under $100. A good used stator for under $100 too. You really need a DVA tester to do voltage testing on a CDI system because of how fast the signal is being sent to the meter. A peak voltage tester can capture the signal for you. You can test the ohms of the stator with your tester. All the info is in the manual.

No continuity on either set of wires to the CD side, very low (1.3) on the rectifier side. Pretty sure it is going to neeed the stator.

Installed new stator this weekend, and reglued the magnet back to the flywheel. Spark on all 3 cylinders. Just need to get the seals to put my lower back together, now.
