I am looking at buying a boat with a 1988 88hp evinrude motor. We did a comp. test on it and found that all 4 cylinders had about 90psi. Is this low for that motor?

all guages are different, the most important thing is that they are equal. i would do a decarb on the motor after you purchase it. it is an enema for your motor. gets the crud out.

Is this decarb something that can be purchased at a boat shop? And you say as long as they are equal it's ok comp?

The important result is that the cylinders are near equal.

Decarboning procedure is explained in the Top Secret File at the top of this forum.

That compression is fine/normal for that year. Some of the earlier models ran higher compression.
