I am putting a 1988 90hp Johnson on my Arima this weekend. Everything is disconnected and I want to bypass the VRO. So besides plugging the oil line and not hooking up the wires, is there anything else I need to do? Any info would be great. Thanks!

So I just pulled the tan and black wires all the way out with the oil tank, and the hose. Capped off the the line into the motor and taped up the end plugs of the tan and black wires in the outboard. Is that gonna do it?

Any other wires besides the tan and black from the tank that need to be disconnected? Don't want to screw anything up being this close and all.

The three or four wire harness that runs from the fuel pump has an amphenol plug where it connects with the main engine harness. That needs to be disconnected. Seal it so that it can be used if smeone should choose to.

Be sure that your fuel/oil mix has reached the engine.

Test the overheat alarm circuit to be sure that it still operational.

I did mine this weekend, I had no amphenol plug, just wired straight to back of my VRO, I just cut mine.

The amphenol plug is not at the pump, but at the other end of the wires, usually tucked behind other components such as the PT&T relay box. The VRO is never wired directly into the main harness, so there has to be some connecting device, even if it's a splice.
