Just bought a 17' bayliner trophy with 85 force engine....The previous owner said it ran last season but hasnt started it since.Got it home put a battery in and didnt get it to turn over with switch,so left key on and jumped the solenoid and turned it over that way, pulled spark plug and there is no spark coming from the coils.cleaned the fuse panal and checked all the fuses.also pulled the coil and module bracket off and noticed a mouse nest and one partialy chewed wire, fixed that but still no spark...any ideas?

Re: 1988 bayliner no spark

Just wanted to let everyone know that after trial and error and reading alot of post I figured it out....1)The ignition was not getting and power so to fix that run a new wire back from the silanoid to the ignition switch.2)After taking the power pack bracket off I noticed part of a mouse nest, cleaned that out and seen that the two wires running from the module to the coils had beed chewed on and grounded to the block.3)The safety kill switch had one of the plugs broke and the previous owner had stripped them and wired together.(which after reading a thread in the forums about wiring it had said that it had to be an open circuit to be right)

It took a few times to get it started but primed it and a lil bit of starting fluid it took off.It startes now with the littlest bump of the key..
