I'm new to the site and to the cruiser boating world. I've only had a small fish and ski in the past and have now jumped into the world cabin cruisers!
Questions, just to get things going:
A) What is the best online resource for old Chris Craft parts?
B) ". " manuals?
C) what should I watch out for on this boat?
Notes about the boat just bought:
I had a complete and VERY thorough survey performed and I was present during.
Unable to do sea trial due to boat being too far from ramp and permits being needed to take it on the road etc. ( I showed up at last minute. I live over ten hours from where the boat is located but due to the recent blizzard associated with hurricane Sandy I had to go help out my parents which put me just six hours away from the boat so I went on down to meet the Captain for the survey)
Mechanicals all checked out just fine. There was one soft spot and moisture indicated in top deck on starboard bow. This is being repaired by the seller (Norfolk Marine Co., Norfolk, VA). There was also a little separation of fiberglass (tavvits?) where the decking in the cabin meets the hull in a couple of areas and theses areas are being repaired as well wherever they are accessible.
I am having the entire boat detailed, buffed out, polished etc and re-striped with vinyl stripe of new color going over the original black gel coat stripe along the top sides.
I will be leaving the boat stored in Norfolk to have these items taken care of ( as condition of the sale) until March when I will have the boat shipped to the Cincinnati area where it will reside on the Ohio River where I will tinker and enjoy it until relocating myself and the boat (and the wife) to the Sarasota, FL area in about 4-5 years. The boat is just part of a five year plan ( Escape Plan ) which may become the name of the vessel.
Whew! Ok, any hot tips anyone?
