as stated above, this motor coughs about every 4-5 seconds. i have changed plugs, readjusted the floats (per the manual), thoroughly rebuilt the carbs, and adjusted the idle air screws on the carbs to 1.5 turns (per the manual). still no relief for the coughing. causes the engine to die at idle and need restart. runs well at top speed, but will surge/cut out slightly every now and then. thanks, in advance for any help. this is really starting to irritate me.

i have 135-140# compression on all cylinders.

the lean sneeze is normal, you can adjust the carbs a little richer, but this is totally normal for a suzuki .....

well, if this is normal for the engine, then it is somewhat disheartening. I know a 2-stroke is not going to purr like a lexus engine, but it seems that it should run a little smoother. i will try to adjust the lean-rich screw a little more to the rich side for all 4 carbs. see how that goes.

could it possibly be one carb is not setup correctly?

Ys, see how it goes, I have had suzuki's all my life and all of them have the lean sneeze untill it is warmed up ..... if you want a motor that purrs like a lexus, get a yamaha (",) first time, everytime, all the time!
