I overhauled my 1988 Evinrude 90 (new rings, new tstats, new water pump, cleaned carbs). Linked and synched on the garden hose. Ran great. I had run it on the garden hose about 4 times for a total of about 1 hour. Took it out today for first water run and ran great for first 30 minutes at max rpms of 3500 on 25:1 mix. On the return in an idle zone, started running rough and stalled. I could start it by applying choke. When I choked it with manual choke, it sped up. I did not turn the lever on the electric choke inside engine. When I returned and flushed it, it ran great again and when I applied the electric (push) choke, the engine stalled.
Any ideas what to check?
