I have a 88 force 50, on a 13' bayliner capri and it does not run where it should at all or even close around 25-30 mph, its at like 10mph. any suggestions? compression is good, when throttled up, carb is at max output but it barely moves!!!!

Sounds like you lost spark on one cylinder. You can tell by deposits left on the sparkplugs. The one not firing will usually be wetter and/or cleaner.

The coils don't fail that often. It's more likely the CD unit that feeds it. But first, try swapping coils and see if the problem travels with the coil.

i switched out the coils but its seems to wanna backfire and not start at all, by switching the top coil w the bottom coil. when put back to original it start right up but the bottom cylinder is getting no spark. Ya think i should swicth out the coil?
