does anyone has a source for replacement of the flywheel magnetic strip? This is a common problem with this age motor. It looses magnetism then does not allow the stator to produce enough volts to the coil pack. It will losse power or not even start because of the weak spark. Thanks

If you are certain it is the magnet strip or the trigger magnet, then you are probably better off trying to buy a used flywheel off CL or the auctions. I suppose if you were really good, you could remagnetize the strip but---

Cranking voltage from the stator should be somewhere around 250. If the engine cranks too slowly, this will affect voltage and it will not fire, even with good magnets. Cranking speed should be more than 300 RPM.

The 2 cylinder flywheels are different than the three and four cylinder models in position of the trigger magnet. If you can remove the magnet and glue it inside your flywheel, then you can buy a 3-4 cylinder wheel

Never heard of the magnet going bad(I haven't seen everything).I've seen them come loose.I'd look a bit further.
