1988 force 85 hp power pack

Hello,
I just got this motor on a capri bayliner and it has a brand new stator and brand new triger new plugs. but doesnt have any spark.
can the power packs be tested to see if the are any good?

Before playing with anything else, take the white wires off of the terminal board on the engine. Try starting now. These are the grounding wires for the CDI boxes and are normally open until you turn the key off. If the ignition switch is faulty, or someone rewired it incorrectly, the CDI units will be grounded all the time.

Oh, and buy a Clymer manual.

I went out and looked at the motor today and on the teminal board that you
spoke of only has 1 single white wire. also that terminal board is on the starter side of the motor but anyway I took off that white wire and still no spark. also on the power pack side of the motor all the wires for that side are all white/striped wires so Iam not sure I am seeing the same thing that you are explaining to me. oh I have ordered a manual for this motor should be here
in a few days. so maby that will help. just for the history of the motor my friend bought it and took it to the marine mechanic and he is the 1 that installed the stator and new trigger. then my friend ran out of money so he decided to try to sell it because he was straped for money so I decided to buy the boat and motor at a bargan price only 300.00. but the mechanic said he thought it needs 2 power packs so that is where I am with it.

When you get the manual, verify that the ignition switch, engine terminal board, CDI boxes and coils are wired properly. The manual has the color codes so this is an easy task. Some of these old engines were worked on by butchers calling themselves mechanics.

When you verify the wiring is correct, then follow the manual and do the resistance checks.
