1988 Force 85 hp water pump issue

I took my boat out last weekend when it was 20 degrees at first it did not pump water then it started to **** fine. got the boat on plane and the buzzer sounded look at the motor and nothing but steam. limped back to the docks and noticed that it would pump water some times.

20 degrees....You sure you don't have some ice blocking the water pickup tube in the lower unit between the pump and block?

its possible ill check when i get back home i hope i didnt f up the heads
