1988 force 85HP coils

I have a 1988 85HP Force engine and I bought it with (2) blue coils and (1) black coil,and I was also told buy someone else that you can not mix match coil colors, the engine runs great so is this true or not Thanks Bob

I think you will also find a slight difference in the casing profile which indicates for CDI or contact ignition....true you cannot put the CDI version on a contact ignition but the CDI output is very versatile and works ok with the blue contact style coils .. basically the energy is being transfered from the capacitor to the spark so thats fine ...

yea the casting is the exat same blue and black I was told buy chrysler crew if it aint broke dont fix it, just leave it but that wasn't the answer i was looking for, someone told me you can not mix match coils & switch boxs of different colors, only if there were a part number on them but there aint so I leave it up to the I Boat forum Thank Bob
