I have a 1988 50hp force 507x8c. It hasn't had any spark it has a new rectifier a new stator and also a used trigger new sparkplugs new key switch and was going through the troubleshooting stuff trying to learn it and was on the trigger where it sayed "If the # 2 cylinder is the one not firing, swap the Red and White/Green trigger wires. If the cylinder starts firing, either the power
pack or the trigger was connected backwards internally. The engine will perform satisfactorily if the wires are left with this
connection." The motor actually fired when I did this but then the lower coil started smoking turning the key off stops the smoke. help I dont know if I wired the key switch wrong or something else wrong or what. So I switched the wires back and it continued to smoke when I turned the key on
