Hi all! I am considering purchasing a boat for the first time and am looking for a little bit of guidance. I recently moved to a beach town on the east coast and think that a boat would be a nice thing to have in terms of entertaining the occasional guest and for my own pleasure. Growing up my parents had a boat (‘85 Bayliner Ciera 2550) and it was something that I enjoyed. I’m looking for something smaller that I can take out into the Intracoastal Waterway and in the ocean (very) close to the coast that won’t be a hassle to tow. I have my eye on a 1988 Four Winns Liberator 211, asking price is $6,000 with trailer... Here’s what I know: Freshwater boat, 150hrs (not clear to me if the engine has been replaced or if it was BARELY used, my money is on replaced), the boat looks extremely clean inside and out like it was very well taken care of by the previous owner. All that said, this boat is 31 years old. I’ve heard the the acronym B.O.A.T. (Break Out Another Thousand) and the age of the boat concerns me. I’ve heard mixed opinions from other forums online and wanted some more opinions! Thanks

150 hours for a 31 year old boat is about 5 hours a year. My 2014 boat has 180 hours. IMHO, the hours seem low. I would think buyer beware.
