I have heard that there is no difference between the 120 and 140 Johnson Looper. I did my own research and see that the specs of the motor are the same. Carbs are the same from what I can see. Timing is the same. Someone once told me it was all in the floats and their measurement settings. Can someone tell me if threre is a trick to getting the 140? Tks

check the parts lists at www.shop.evinrude.com click on "online parts catalogues" then select Johnson from the dropdown box.

in particular look at orfices, intake manifold, cylinder head. there maybe others.

The powerheads are identical. So is the mid section and lower unit. There are some very minor differences in the fuel delivery in some years. You'll not be able to see any performance difference even with a performance hull. You'll notice that they eventually did away with the 120 and 140 and had a 130.

Yea I figured there wasnt much of a difference. Although it is a 120, it pushes like its 140 but I just wanted to know to say I did. Thanks.
