Just changed the impella the other day and after all that work it wasn`t pumping water. This is all new to me.It turns out i dont think we lined up the spout tube inside.Have not tried to fire it up again just yet.Just turned it over for a minute without starting it up.Should i have seen water coming out yet or does it have to be running.I did leave the thermostat covers off.The motor was pumping good with the last impella in. Thanks John

I would drop the LU and make certain that the copper pick up tube is properly seated...then go from there! Since you have doubt...that is where I would start!

also do not pinch the rubber gromet, it really takes 2 people to handle that lower, align it, and start bolts.

Yes i did check that and it is seated for sure. But my other question is /if i hook up the ears and turn on just the water should i see water coming out of the thermostat housings with the covers off or does the motor actually have to be running?Hope i am not sounding foolish here but boat motors is all new to me.
