Yes that is ok as long as you don't 15psi difference between cylinders then it is rebuild time.

so the motor has alot of life left on it.. also my other question is i was reading in my manuel of the motor and it says it has a S L O W sensor which runs off a temp sensor on the motor for if it gets to hot the motor wont run of 2400 rpms my only question is i always check to see if water is coming out of the hole up top but i just bought the boat and it doesnt have a warning buzzer that i know of ppl say it can over heat even though water is coming out from up top ???? is this true should i run a temp guage and where should i connect it to if sol... the boat is a 1988 bass skier

the tale tell stream, only show that water is pumping, not that the thermostats are opening and cooling the block. mount temp sensor on the upper part of the water cover, on the head.

i just dont wanna have over heating problems... also when i did my compression test i pulled one plug out at a time i didnt remove all plugs and do it i dont think i would have 120 psi in the cyclinders if i had a blown head gasket.. just wondering if u can compression test it taking one plug out at a time

yeh but the readings will be low if you only remove one plug, take them all out and let it spin freely ,

watch your compression numbers go up.

Buy a temp guage that comes with the sensor and wiring, follow the directions, if the temp starts going up and keeps going you're overheating.
If it stays in range its good to go.

so i mount the temp guage on the upper part of the water plate if ur looking at the back of that motor the water plate has that 50 screws that bolts to all the heads....

there is a way of grounding the wire on the over heat sensor to see if it works if the alarm goes off run until u hear that noise if no noise no problom this can be done with paper clip
