Good day- I own a new to me 88 Lowe 24 ft pontoon boat with a Evinrude 70 hp outboard. My helm has seen better days, the vinyl cracked years ago before I got it, water got in and it's wood is rotting.
I came across a fiberglass pontoon boat helm that is complete but is for a Mercury engine. I am in the process of removing items so I can put it on my Lowe pontoon with the Evinrude.
I know I will not be able the use the shifter/ throttle and that's ok. I know the steering cables are different so they have to go. My question is, can I use the same steering wheel and steering box that is under the wheel? Will the Evinrude steering cables attach or does that need to go too?
