My 1988 mariner is a 90 hp 3 cyl. I have had the CDI& stator replaced & it ran like lightning for several hours. The motor started to vibrate slightly, the motor then died and was able to restarrt but had TO CHOKE IT TO GET BACK TO DOCK. I tried to restart it later & it would run & die until it started to run on its own again for a while. Never tried to let it run wide open afraid to get too far away. Trailered it and now need help.
<br /><br />Sounds like water in your fuel to me. After you purge all water from the system, add a water seperating fuel filter between the tank and engine.<br /><br />Good luck.
