Hi All, 1988 Merc inline 6. No spark on cyl #4. New power packs. Coils all good. Swapped trigger wires on #4 and #5. Problem moved. Can I be pretty confident it's the trigger? Thanks in advance for the quick feedback. Looking to get back in the water this weekend. Summers are short in New England.......

I just went through my 85 inline 6, www.cdielectronics.com is the best place for trouble shooting guides. They can be difficult to find but if you fill n your boats information and then click on the trigger it will have an install sheet. that sheet also includes trouble shooting and there you can find the specs you should be looking for. Unfortunately from my understanding 1 and 4 share a coil on the trigger so logic would say if it was the trigger 1 would not fire as well. Maybe you get lucky and find the lead coming from the trigger to the switch box for 4 is damaged? Good luck

Hi Ksanthony, Thanks for your response. That's the confusing part. Five sparking cylinders. So that rules out the commonalities. I'm hoping that it's simply a bad wire connection. I've done resistance test but plan to repeat them tonight. I'm also an electronics engineer and plan to whip up a DVA adapter and take voltage readings. But just for kicks I have a new stator and trigger assembly on order. So new trigger, stator and switch packs better do the trick.
