My 88 searay floor has some soft spots right up the middle, and the ski hatch is bout to fall in. Can i just cut the floor out in the center of the boat and replace that since that seems to be the only bad part, or do i have to replace the whole floor, and i did pull the carpet back to see things a little better, and how do i know where to cut the floor, i mean how close to the hull, and how do i find the screws that r holding the floor down since the floor is glassed over, if it going to b just as much work just to rplace the center as the whole floor, myswell do it all. And, just to let you know, this is my first boat, and i dont know very much bout them at all, thanks for the replies, and happy boating.

Here's the bad news, boats tend to rot from the bottom up. By time you've got soft spots on the floor.....the stringers are already mush. And the transom is usually not far behind. I believe when cutting the floor out a number of members have used a circular saw with the blade (carefully!) set to a depth just slightly below the thickness of the wood to avoid cutting through the hull.
