I have just purchased a 1988 Springbok 176, but am having trouble finding any information on this boat and handling. I have repowered it with a 2008 75hp Etec, and would appreciate any info on how this boat should perform. I am especially interested in how it should take larger waves, as I fish Lake Erie and Huron quite often.
Thanks
Ron

Wow. By the responses it looks like there are not many people with Springbok boats out there.

I think I've only seen 2 or 3 Springboks posted anywhere online, all at iboats, and none from frequently posting or active members

I suspect it will handle about as well as any 17ft tinny powered by a 75hp. Whats it rated for? 85-100hp?

Yes its rated for a 90 hp, yet is 6 inches wider, 4 inches deeper, and 100 lbs heavier then my Starcraft that was also rated for a 90 hp

Please follow the 90day guideline for inactive topics.

At 17ft, it might get sporty fishing away from shore, but if you fish the big water, you should already know how to watch the weather.
