I have a 1988 Yamaha 3sg that has been sitting for many years in the basement. I took apart everything except for the cylinder head, which was fogged before storage, to this point and have completely soaked and cleaned all parts. Installed carb rebuild kit, all carb and surrounding gaskets and seals, and rebuilt the water pump in the lower unit. I have run some Seafoam through the system and now can get the engine to run at high RPMs out of gear. When I drop the engine to idle speed, the engine dies quickly. It seems like the fuel is not continuing to flow into the engine and it just starves itself. I have tried everything I know how to do at this point and am looking for any direction to turn other than a repair shop.
Thanks in advance.
