1988 Yamaha lower unit Fix it or Junk it ???

Hi

This is my 1988 Yamaha 90 Hp lower unit. Dose any body have any opinion on fixing this or is it Junk. Will welding it hold up ? any input is welcome

My Yahama 1989 Pro 50 has done the same thing. I stop drilled the crack about two years ago and it has kept the crack from growing but the two sides of the crack are offset now about quarter inch. Seems the corrision that started this problem is still growing.

It is definitely caused by corrosion I pulled the first retaining nut of the hub and cleaned the threads and used a set of chain pliers and pulled it back together drilled the end of the crack and welded it and to my surprise the nut hand threaded back in. Guess we will see if it holds up.

i have the same crack on my 86. cleaned and jb welded it? figured I would take a shot. The only positve thing about the crack is the gearcase oil can not leak out
