1989 135hp 2 stroke blackmax manual

Hey all,

Searched around but couldn't find a service manual for the 135hp 1989 engine.

Any advice? Got the boat about a year ago and none of the gauges work i.e. trim, revs, temp but the engine is working perfectly.... Want to start getting some of this stuff working.

OK, there are some online Mercury service manuals. A search on this forum should turn up a URL. That motor did change charging systems over time, so try to get a close too the exact service manual as you can.

That motor probably doesn't have a trim sender. If it does it will be on the transom clamp, and you should see it.

Check on the crowley marine website for parts for that motor. The max rules site should have a wiring diagram.

The tach signal is a grey wire from either the rectifier or the voltage regulator. The tach should also have a purple and black wires connected and should zero when power is applied.
