Just picked up an '89 140hp looper and first thing i did was unhook the vro... could this have caused a fuel restriction? motor is not idling well and seems to be choking out. spark and compression are good. changed plugs, too. one is dry after a few starts. i'm getting ready to hook the vro back up... or change out the fuel pump... any ideas and thoughts is appreciatied...

and another note - my warning horn is not working either:mad:. hooked it up to 96 controls and can't figure out what the problem is. haven't spent time on this issue yet....

Did you just block off the oil line and premix the fuel ???? If the pump is pumping properly then it should not cause one cylinder to be dry. Be careful if one is not getting anything as you could cause cylinder damage. If it is not getting fuel then it is not getting any lubrication.
Have you run it at all before you took the VRO out of the equation and if so how was it then ???
Sounds like it could be a fuel blockage to 1 cylinder. Need to check that out before putting the oil side back in place.
