hello all ,,I have a 175 evinrude i just put on but my controls that i had on the boat for the johnson i just took off doesnt work for it or is wired wrong,,red plug goes right in motor but nothing at key not even a crank,,also would love a wiring diagram if anyone has 1,,thanks guys,,,,

Next to the starter, find the 20 amp fuse, that will kill ignition at the key.

Thanks , I will look at it it it came off a boat that had dual motors does that make a difference,, it is the right rotation one

Shouldn't make any difference, mine came off a twin powered boat too.
Jump the starter to see if you're getting power to the engine.
Spray elec cleaner in the cannon plug sockets to clean em up, then see if you have v at the ignition switch with a meter.

Yes there is power to the motor, could it be at the box it self I started my Johnson that morning before I took it off

The red plug harnesses are all the same from 1973 through 1995. Did you try using jumper cables direct to the starter to see if it works?

Yes I think I found the problem or at least part there was one black wire unhooked when I opened the control box and one dark bluewire hanging on by a little copper strand both at the ignition hopefully that works
 
Top
