I am looking at the above mentioned boat....
It APPEARS from the pictures to be pretty solid, with the exception of doing some upholstry work(20 years old, I am not really surprised). The upholstry on my Four Winns was showing its age, at about 10 years, and us, and the original owner(friends of my dad), took care of it, they were just out on every weekend.. so, it got alot of sun...
ANYWAY...
It has the OMC 3.0, the guy says 130hp, and most everything I find, says the 3.0 is 140hp.... Which is it?
Were these boats available with larger engines? I HAVE a 88 OMC Cobra drive with a 4.3 in front of it......I am told it may not be worth the effort...... if it requires extra wood work, and what not... probably not, but, since these are mass produced, I am thinking/wondering, if that area is built up, to accept anything from a 2.3, up to a V8(seen some V6s and V8s in B/Rs)....
Anyway, I know about the transom and stringer issue possibilities....
Just wondering if there is anything else I should look for, beware of etc. It wont get much use this season, as its already getting late in the season.
I would redo the upholstery this winter, along with a repower, whether that be, just rebuilding the tiny, anemic little 3.slow... or, adding some power to it....
I know the factory rating on my OMC 4.3 is 175... and that would only equate to a 3.5mph top speed, but, I am thinking, it would optimally, allow a slightly larger prop, which would allow a better cruise speed/rpm. I also have acess to a set of Vortec heads, edelbrock 4bbl intake, and would only need to source a marine carb, and spark arrestor.
Anyway, as I am having trouble trying to source some info....
What is the fuel capacity of this boat? 20gal? 40?
How is the actual ride and handling.
I am selling a bike and looking into this, as something I can do with my daughter instead of sitting around, and she doesnt really like camping yet...so..
Anyway, sorry for the rambling thinking out loud post.....
And, I am not new to boats, or boating. I have just NO knowledge and experience with Bayliner... I find a lot of mixed info on them(seems to be from the early 80s?).. My father was VERY anti-bayliner while I was growing up.... so...
