Ok still working on the old looper new flywheel magnets, stator, rectifier, rebuilt carbs, new plugs, rebuilt VRO pump running strong! Had it on the water this weekend on a 23 ft Sea Ox cuddy and we got up to 45 MPH. Water pressure out the telltale seemed a bit lazy to me so.... Put a new water pump in and seems to run well, good flow out the telltale, ran for 30 minutes on the muffs, temp guage went to about 140 and stayed steady. The question I have is this... There is water spraying out 3 holes in the back of the lower unit when it is running. 2 of them spray down toward the ground and one sprays directly out the very leading edge of the lower unit. Is this normal? where could I hook up a water pressure guage on this engine? what should the water pressure be?

My 200 looper runs 12 psi H2O pressure at idle. At, WOT, it is pushing 30 PSI.
Look on either side of the aft part of the exhaust adapter (just below the block). There are 1/4" NPT Allen head plugs installed. You can put a water pressure fitting there.

About the water spraying...there is a hole in the lower, right a cav plate level, where the fitting goes for the speedo pitot pickup. Is that where you mean? Is this something you are seeing while on muffs?

No it is not coming out of the pitot pickup. his may be totally normal, just never payed much attention untill I changed the water pump. Of the 3 holes the water is coming out of, 2 of them look identical on either side of the lower unit.. drain holes? the on on the leading edge of the lower unit seems to be a square cut looking hole... anyways water is shooting out all 3 when running on the muffs.... Normal?

BTW thanks for the feedback on where to put a water pressure guage
