Just fueled up, ran 15 minutes then quit, started it...ran 5 minutes and quit, started it, ran 1 minute and quit...would not start after that. Happened just like this at the end of last year, so I brought it to a local service co. and it started for them no problem, they gave a tune-up and it was good to go, until it happened again. Not hugely mechanical...although I made sure tank vent was OK and bulb was solid. Ready to sell!!

If there is a smell of gas, you are probably flooding -- carburetor bowl might be overflowing and the float may need adjustment. If on the other hand the engine is starved for gas, it could be a line obstruction or a collapsed line, or the tube in the tank is blocked. It could be the fuel pump. It could also be that the motor is overheated.

What to do (besides selling)? Take it a step at a time. If flooding, you may need to check and adjust the float, and look for a clogged fuel jet in the carburetor.

Was the motor running hot? Was it pumping water normally? Smell hot, or too hot to touch? If so, you will need to correct that first (a whole new subject there).

For the fuel pump, detach hose at carb and crank the engine -- should see gas being pumped.

For the tank, borrow another working tank and hose if you can, and see if that corrects the problem.

Start troubleshooting the easiest stuff first, and in the most straightforward way possible, then get into the more complex only if you have to.

Sounds like I have to agree with oldboat1. Get a carb rebuild kit and replace your needle valve and seat. Replace the float too and set it so it is even with the carb when turned upside down.
