1989 3.0 OMC cooling problems

Thanks for the help earlier on the impeller, I removed it and it was a mess, sleeve it sits in was oblonged and caused it to even melt it way thru the housing, will be getting new impeller on Monday, and new housing, while I have it all apart, anything else I should check on the raw water system while I am doing this,

Also, how do i get at the screens in my stern drive, and when I had it in the water, throttle is slow to respond, I have to move it half way for it to start to move my boat, is it supposed to be like that or should I adjust the cable on the motor or have a new one installed, what are my options

Why do you want to get at the screens? You have to remove & split the drive to remove them. If they're clogged, you should be able to clear them from the outside of the drive.

thanks, thought it looked a bit daunting to get at them, any advice on the throttle issue,
