A guy is trying to get me to buy a 1989 Sears Gamefisher 3hp. I used to have a file that told me who the manufacturer was, but I can't find it. I am thinking it is a Chrylser, but could be wrong.

any help?

thanks,

Made by Tanaka, I've had one for 20+ years and they're pretty darn good motors for canoes, dinghy, small boat. They quit selling them in the USA years ago but parts are still available. Good Luck!

You need the model number to tell, especially the 3-number prefix.

217 = Eska
225 = Force
298 = Tanaka
571 = West Bend
574 = Scott-Atwater / McCulloch
582 = Clinton
West Bend, Chrysler, Force, all the same company, kept being sold off.
