1989 80hp 3cyl. Modified

What do I do??? 1989 80hp 3cyl. Modified.
​​​​​​The ignition system has an extra part between the stator and switch box leaving only one blue wire to the switch box instead of red and blue. The stator wires go to the extra part and only a blue wire goes from it to the switch box. The stator is different from that in the Repair Manual. Has anyone heard of this mod and do you know how to test it, or do I need to buy all new parts and return to original.

That is a red stator kit.....trash it as they where junk and install a standard 16amp stator. If you want to test...Need a meter and DVA adapter.
Wht/grn to Grn/wht…..500-700 ohms...….180-400V cranking
Bl wire to engine grnd……..open no reading
Bl wire ……...180-400V cranking.
If stator ohms different ...bad
No volts toBl wire ...adapter bad
If all checks OK keyswitch or switchbox bad...Remove Blk/yell from switchbox and retest with plugs removed in case it starts.
