I have a 1989 force 85 hp. what is the suggested starting procedure? this motor is very cold blooded. also it seems to bog down when giving it full throttle. i have put new plugs in it, put quicksilver quickcleen in the fuel. what else can i check? does the quicksilver powertune work better then the fuel additive quickclean? i have not checked compression.

On a cold engine, push button and advance throttle or pull out on throttle lever and advance (depends on model) to fast idle position. Push in on key to engage choke solinoid while turning to the start position. When engine starts, let it run for 10 min at fast idle.

During the day, if the engine is adjusted correctly, you will not need to choke or use fast idle unless the engine sits for a couple of hours.

Buy a Clymer manual, it is a good investment.
