1989 85hp johnson v4 seahorse overheat alarm

my overheating alarm was sounding and after reading Q&A's posted on here, i was able to narrow the problem down quickly, it wasn't the pump, it was a bad tstat, one side of the motor was really hot but not the other. i removed the 2 tstats and placed them in boiling water 1 opened. fairly easy to do yourself. thank you everybody for your input! this site is amazingly helpful and a huge money saver!!lol
