1989 88 spl will not start.

Took out my Proline for its maiden voyage. I launched and backed into the dock. engine started up fine. Idled it while i was waiting for my buddy. All of a sudden the motor shuts off, and when i try to restart I get no power from the ignition switch. I can hear the solenoid when I turn the key but it wont turn over. Then it finally turns on with no prob. After the test drive, i get back to the dock to load onto trailer. and same thing happens. it just shuts off. It seems as if someone has pulled the emergency stop lanyard. All my accessories work. could this be a bad ignition switch or emergency stop switch? any other suggestions. Oh yeah it did this on my driveway about 3 weeks ago, then it started up fine.

check all your wiring, especially the black/yellow wire, that is the kill wire. also unplug the big red connector and clean the contacts. when was the last time the impeller was changed. if you don't know change it. thats a super great almost bullet proof motor, when properly maintained. i just sold my 88 88spl. it like clean tight battery cable connections.

Impeller was done two weeks ago. I will check all the wiring.

I have a 87 SPL that the same thing happened to me. Check your battery, mine was dead, cranking out about 160 amps when it need to be over 500.
